Double-loop stitching-machines; needle-driving; feed; needle-bars, vibrating laterally. --In machines for producing the "interloop" stitch. the upper needle is employed to effect the feed, and a pivoted hook or claw co-operates with the horizontal needle carrying the under thread, to aid in forming the stitch. The upper needle-bar H, figure 2, is driven direct by the crank G on the main shaft, and the needle J works through the fulcrum guide K, the supporting-plate L of which is adjustable in the slotted bracket D, to enable the amount of oscillation of the needle, and consequently, the length of the stitch, to be regulated. The under needle or looper X, Figure 4, is carried by the vibrating lever V, which is actuated through the lever T, Figure 5, by the double cam S on the main shaft E. When looper X has passed through the loop of the upper thread, carried by the needle J, the hook or claw Y is actuated by the driver Z on the bar V, to engage and hold the loop of the under thread until the next dscent of the upper needle, when the hook or claw is returned by the spring to its normal position, ready for the next stitch. A fence fixed to the bed-plate ensures the formation of the loop.
