Patriotic Weed
There's nothing like a little patriotism to draw the public's attention and the Weed company certainly certainly went for the jingoistic route with its stand at the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition in 1876. Pride of place on the exhibit was a giant embroidery done on a Weed machine, showing the battle of Bunker Hill in 1775 - during the American War of Independence. In case anyone missed the point the pagoda-like lavish stand was draped in the Stars and Stripes and dozens of Union flags adorned the display
