Just Another Singer 128?

Singer 128B Sewing Machine from the French Bonnières-sur-Seine Factory

Well, no. This 1968 128B from Singer’s French factory at Bonnières-sur-Seine, just north of Paris, is unique.

It is the very last machine to be made on the French assembly line and its provenance was secured recently when it was presented to the London Sewing Machine Museum by Singer’s European Director.

Singer’s French factory opened in 1935, when Clydebank was becoming stretched just keeping up with home demand.

The range of models manufactured in France was essentially a pared down version of the UK domestic catalogue but bearing the ‘B’ suffix.
