Hurtu Diligeon Freearm Sewing Machine
ISMACS News
April 1991
Issue 31
The cover picture for the April 1991 issue of ISMACS News featured this interesting machine from the Alicante international exhibition.
It's a free-arm machine manufactured by the French company of Hurtu Diligeon in the mid-1880s.
To convert from a free-arm to a more normal platform model, a wooden table was slid around the arm. Bobbin winding was by means of a separate winder.
This was attached the table at any convenient position and driven by hand.
The machine is from the collection of convention organizer Emilio Cano.
